Depends: I would seek a second opinion from a specialist in children's dentistry especially if it is a permanent tooth. We hate to see them suffer however we need to think with clear heads.

Sounds likely: Always good idea to follow up on this. Depending on which tooth it is, he may require a space maintainer after the extraction. You might want to see a pedodontist if his dentist is not a specialist in children. Please get him treatment so he is out of pain.

Probably: If baby tooth, pain should have gone away almost immediately. Have you called the dentist to report the ongoing pain? Please schedule an appointment asap so your child's pain can be relieved.
