Generally not: Tubes are placed for a reason, recurrent infections and/or persistent fluid. These 2 issues can each lead to hearing loss independent of the tubes. Tubes can lead to scarring, called myringosclerosis, that looks like white patches on the ear drums, but this scarring is unlikely to impact hearing. Scarring deeper in the middle ear can impact hearing but this isn't likely to be a result of the tubes.
