GINGIVITIS: Bleeding gums is a sign of moderate to severe gingivitis. The gums are either invected or irritated by plaque or calculus ont he teeth. See your dentist for a thorough exam and prophylaxis(tooth cleaning). In the meantime start flossing and brushing to remove the plaque. Hormonal changes may also cause gums to bleed.

Several things: Generally, bleeding gums are due to a dental/periodontal problem. You may have gingivitis, or it may have progressed to periodontitis (not as likely at your age). Bleeding gums in a young person can also be a sign of a systemic disease. We recommend you see a dentist or periodontist first and if it's not that, they can refer you to the appropriate physician.
