Cough: Causes of cough can be allergic rhinitis, post nasal drip, acid reflux or cough variant asthma. It seems that you have cough and shortness of breath, it may indicate cough variant asthma. Are you a cigarettes smoker. You need evaluation by a physician who can do a office spirometry for asthma and listen to your lungs for wheezing. Inhaled medications may help.
