Chronic cough: Cough that has been continuing beyond 2 months is considered chronic and should be evaluated. Possibilities of chronic cough include asthma (triggered by irritants such as perfumes, smoke etc.). An evaluation of lung function is common for persons having ongoing cough. If it indeed is asthma, this is serious and should not be ignored.
