A member asked:

What are the side effects of gallbladder and spleen removal ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Few: After a cholecystectomy, some people initially have a hard time digesting fatty foods, but most have no noticeable effects on digestion, other than absence of the right upper quadrant pain they used to get. After splenectomy you are prone to a couple of specific infections, so it is important to be immunized (pneumovax, h. Influenzae b, meningococcal).
