Contusion: Contusion injuries are "crush" injuries where the tissue (skin, subcutaneous fat, nerves, muscle, etc.) can get crushed. It is not unusual to have numbness and bruising after such an injury. If one is experiencing severe and progressive pain, it could indicate a compartment syndrome and needs immediate evaluation in the emergency department. Bleeding or increasing redness also needs to be seen.
