It works well: Most of the regular penicillin products do not seem as tasty to the kids as Amoxicillin & so Amoxicillin is often prescribed if a test has confirmed strep as the cause. Strep is killed by all of the penicillin type drugs.Most sore throats are caused by viruses & antibiotics will not help. If a test is not done you don't know what you are treating.
