Takes 16 wks to heal: The initial concern should be to reduce the inflammation as soon as possible by following the principles of price: protect it (with a splint or brace); rest it (get the weight off of it completely; use crutches if necessary); ice it within the first three days, 15-20 minutes three times a day; compression (using a loose ace bandage, compression brace or kinesio tape), elevate to reduce swelling.

What ligament injury: Not all ligament injuries are the same. Some ligament injuries require simple rest and supportive care. Others require bracing. Some ligament tears require surgery. Almost all ligament injuries benefit fom some level of therapy after adequate stability & healing is present. When ou are examined by our physician be sure to discuss the prognosis and treatment plan for your specific ligament injury.
