A stretched ligament: A ligament is the structure that helps to stabilize a joint where bones come together in a grade 1or 2 sprain the ligament gets inflamed and stretches in a grade 3 sprain the ligament can tear completely you might need immobilization or even surgery for the problem.

Bone-bone connection: Ligaments are defined as collagenn tissue structures that connect bones in and around joints. A classic example is the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee that provides stability o the bones of the knee joint and specifically connects the femur to the tibia. A torn ligament is simply any disruption of the tissue integrity.
