Stunt growth: The nose id one of themoast facial bones to complete maturity and does not generally reach stability until 16 in girls and 18 in boys. Operating prior to this may stunt the nasal growth centers which may be a desirable or undesirable outcome.

Girls OK; Boys ?: Rhinoplasty is best performed when nose has fully matured. This age varies depending upon when puberty occurred. In most girls, 16 is ok. In many boys it may also be ok. Some tricks to decide if growth has stopped: if shoe size has not increased in 6 months, you are probably ok. If less than 1/2 inch in 6 months, also probably ok. Hope that helps!

Rhino at sixteen: If done conservatively, a rhinoplasty at 16 is safe. The key is to weigh the risks and benefits. If the nose is becoming a big social issue for a young boy or girl, it is worth doing it. If the deformity is minor and there are no social issues involved then it is better to wait till all of the growth in height has completed.

Rhinoplasty risks: If you are fully grown, then the risks of getting rhinoplasty are the same at 16 as they would be at 36. Rhinoplasty is a surgery with very high patient satisfaction, but certainly does have risks which should be discussed in detail with your surgeon.
