Yes,but: Pericarditis is possible as a cause of chest pain at 16 but not a common one. Things like pain within the moving joints of the chest bone, heart burn from stomach backwash or pleursy from the lung linings would be more common. If the pain intensifies with laying down but less so when upright your pcp may want to consider an ekg and cardiac enzymes to rule this out.
