Arm: The cephalic vein is found in the upper extremity. The vein extends in line with the base of the thumb, coursing up the forearm and upper arm just in front of the deltoid muscle. The cephalic vein dumps into the larger veins of the shoulder region. The cephalic vein is often visible in body builders as the large superficial vein which courses across the deltoid shoulder region. Popular for iv's.
