Unable to answer: Unable to answer the question without further details; why did you have the imaging study? Context of the reported "black spots". Please provide more information. The imaging of venous blood with SWI is a blood-oxygen-level dependent (BOLD) technique which is why it was (and is sometimes still) referred to as BOLD venography. Due to its sensitivity to venous blood showing vessels as black.

A 45-year-old female asked:

Recurrent Bruises: Trauma to superficial blood vessels can result in rupture and pooling of blood below skin surfaces--bruise. Can be normal due to excessive trauma; but this can also be a heralding sign of other serious conditions. Connective tissue disorders, autoimmune disorders, adrenal gland disorders are just a few conditions that may result in friable vessels. Consider review with your primary physician.
A male asked:

Superficial Artery: The superficial temporal artery is a prominent artery just in front of the ear. In certain positions like 'laying down with your head on the pillow", the artery is slightly compressed by the weight of your head against the hard bone of the skull. This allows transmission of sound with each and every pulse of blood that is forced through the compressed artery. If BP/HR are normal, this is normal.
