Is it possible to wear a mouth guard when your teeth are clenched during sleep?

The best time to....: If you are referring to a mouth guard used for protection when playing sports, it is possible. Your best option is to wear a night guard made to fit your mouth. It would protect your teeth from the forces exerted on your teeth during grinding. One can do extensive damage to the teeth from the pressure placed on them by grinding.

Night guard : Absolutely. A night guard (ng) protects and prevents damage to your teeth such as cracks, chipping, and wearing down of your teeth from clenching/grinding. Be patient because sometimes it takes a while to get used to having a ng in your mouth while sleeping. A custom made ng made by your dentist will fit much better than an otc ng. The better the ng fits, the easier to keep it in while sleeping.

Night guard: A mouth guard protects teeth and reduces concussion risk when playing contact sports. A night guard reduces symptoms and wear caused by clenching or grinding, but does not eliminate the cause. They are designed differently and are not interchangeable. Custom made are far superior to OTC, which can actually cause problems. See your Dentist.

Yes: Yes, they are very helpful for clenchers & grinders at night. There are over the counter types but if you want a better investment, a better fit & increased durability then have a professional one made

Recommended: Night-guards are an easy way to prevent the wear and damage that teeth-grinding causes over time. Custom-made mouth-guard by your dentist is recommended.
