Therapy: Most agree that grinding is related to stress release when we are not conscious. Of course, we grind while we are awake as well. Stress again. Many have had success with therapy for stress reduction. Your best bet to protect and save your teeth is the occlusal guard. The best is both. Most of my patients report a lessening or absence of grinding while on vacation. (stress relief). Good luck.

Get a Nightguard: Daytime teeth grinding is a habit which can be reduced, like any other. But it's not easy. You have to constantly remind yourself to keep your teeth slightly apart. Night-time grinding cannot be stopped. It's a permanent pattern in your brainstem. You need a good nightguard. Otc appliances rarely work & often cause more pain. Have your dentist recommend /make the proper nightguard for you.
