A member asked:

What happens when your tonsils swell up and you get a fever, but only once in awhile, but my tonsils always swell up?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tonsil swelling: Tonsils swell naturally when you are fighting off an infection. They swell because they are full of "lymph tissue" which contains tons of "immune system" cells that are helping your body fight off infection. Chronic or massive swelling may be an indication for an evaluation. Hope this helps!
