Can acid reflux cause lung cancer?

No: Acid reflux can lead, in rare cases, to barrett's esophagus, which can predispose to esophageal cancer. This is extremely rare, as reflux is quite common (most people experience this at some point). Reflux is not associated with lung cancer, at least not as a related cause.

No: Although some studies have shown an association between reflux and lung cancer, there is no evidence that reflux causes lung cancer.

Barrett's Esophagus: Acid reflux is a concern for changes in the lining of your esophagus. Over time it can cause permanent damage to the lining of your esophagus and has an association with esophageal cancer. Lung cancer has been closely associated with smoking.
