Protect: Avoid things that make you break out, soaps & wetness. Wash your hands only when necessary. Wear gloves when needed. Wear clothes made of cotton. Bathe only with a small amount of mild unscented soap, such as dove. Keep the water temperature cool or warm, not hot. Use the medicine your doctor gave you. Use a plain moisturizer daily. Avoid scratching or rubbing the itchy area. Manage stress.

Eczema: The cornerstone of eczema treatment is maintaining skin hydration. It is now advisable to bathe daily for less than 15 minutes and heavy emollients (heavy moisturizer cream - not lotion) applied to skin while damp after toweling. Cream is applied at least 2x a day. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or hydroxizine or local steroids for the itch. Wear only cotton next to skin. Occasional antibiotics for secondary infection.
