Depends on...: The number of grams of fat one should eat depends on the total number of calories he wants to eat each day, and the percent of calories he wants to be from carbs, fat, and protein. The site http://www.Freedieting.Com/tools/nutrient_calculator.Htm has a calculator. One can enter the total calories, such as 1500, and then the %, such as 20%carb, 40%fat, 40%protein, and get the results in grams/day.

Lots: Low carb diets are high fat diets. 80% calories come form fat.

40-60g/day.: More if you exercise a good amount. Some low glycemic carbs can increase the daily amount. You can "google" "low-glycemic foods, and multiply the carbs by the glycemic index. Whatever you do, weight should come off, if your choice is appropriate!

Not question of safe: When on a diet rich in fats and you take pills to block fat absorption, you are likely to have problems controlling your bowel movements. You may find yourself in situations with the need for immediate access to a toilet and possibly even situations where you don't always make it in time. Limit fats and increase proteins and don't take such medications. Low glycemic index better than low carb.
