A member asked:

Age 69.5 i have had a psa of up to 8.6. antibiotics lower it to 6.5. also have bhp+. do i need a biopsy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Needs discussion: Psa may not be suitable basis for the decision. A psa of 6.5 could be considered normal for a caucasian male of 70. You need to ask yourself, if the biopsy shows cancer, will you go for treatment? See these sites for more info and discuss with your doctor. http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/detection/psa http://www.Medicinenet.Com/prostate_specific_antigen/article.Htm.
