Rinse with water: Sputum is the thick mucus or phlegm that is expelled from the lower respiratory tract through coughing. It is not saliva or spit. Rinse your mouth with water prior to collection. Do not use toothpaste prior.

Yes: Eventhough it is not necessary i think taking a painkiller before extraction will minimize discomfort after the anesthetic wears off and before you take the first set of painkillers after extraction.
