Baking : Baking soda is found in many toothpastes. It is a base, which neutralizes the acids that the bacteria clinging to your teeth produce. It is also slightly abrasive which helps you remove some of the superficial stains. Moderate use with a soft bristle brush should not be detrimental to your teeth or surrounding tissue. Brushing excessively hard, and overusing such an abrasive, can, over time cause a wearing away of the enamel on your teeth. Also, brushing hard can cause your gums to shrink back, exposing the roots of the teeth. The root surface will wear away much faster than the enamel, which can lead to hot and cold sensitivity.
