Great question!: I believe knowing why we brush teeth will help most people to brush better. In addition to 'cavity prevention', brushing away oral bacteria is important because: (1) if he has a gum disease--common after 30 Y.O. And up--his bacteria infect others, including you and your children. (2) if he has small bleeding gum pockets, the bacteria also enter the blood and infect the body!
