Yes and No: Anxiety doesn't usually cause the throat tissue to actually swell, but by neurologic pathways the throat muscles can tense up. This causes the feeling that the throat is constricting or tightening.

It can feel that way: Some people will experience a thickness in their throat when they get anxious which can icnrease anxiety if you are trying to speak to others and become more self consiousness - this probably would be a temporary sensation and a clue it is anxiety related would be it goes away when not anxious. If it is a persisting problem medical evaluation would be wise. Psychologists and sometimes meds help.
