Yes: The elderly don't always run fever with viral illnesses. Any eldery person with the flu and any asthmatic with the flu is at increased risk of death from respiratory failure.

Yes - due to age: Influenza generally leads to a fever in those able to mount a fever; having had a respiratory arrest should not prevent anyone from having a fever, nor should asthma. The elderly, however, may have infection without fever. (see berman, p and fox, RA "fever in the elderly". Age ageing (1985) 14 (6): 327-332.).
