Deep in the belly: The pancreas is located in the upper abdomen, behind the stomach, and in front of the spine. On the right side, the pancreas is bounded by the duodenum (small intestine), and on the left side it is bounded by the spleen. There are several very large blood vessels that touch the pancreas as well. This challenging anatomy demands that a specialist operate on the pancreas.

Pancreas : The pancreas is in the retroperitoneum in the upper abdomen. It runs transversely from the duodenum to the spleen. It makes up the back wall of the lesser sac behind the stomach and it contains the highway of vessels going to the intestines and spleen and then back to the liver.
