Depends: Chronic pain may be neurological or "somatic". If neurological, other drugs are first line. Afterwards opioids mat be added.If "somatic" opioids are recommended. Somatic pain arises from bone, connective tissue, etc rather than the nervous system like neurological. I would recommend a pain specialist to diagnosis which.
