Depends: Chronic pain may be neurological or "somatic". If neurological, other drugs are first line. Afterwards opioids mat be added.If "somatic" opioids are recommended. Somatic pain arises from bone, connective tissue, etc rather than the nervous system like neurological. I would recommend a pain specialist to diagnosis which.

As usual...depends: While opioids are usually effective in providing analgesia, or pain relief, they do not address any underlying problem that may be the cause of your pain. You would benefit from a consultation with a pain management specialist, who should conduct a thorough history and physical to determine the cause of your pain and begin targeted treatments to alleviate it.
