Back pain options: Sorry to hear about your pain. Other options in no particular order might include: 1. Disc decompression 2. Acupuncture 3. Core strengthening 4. Epidural steroid injections 5. Medial branch blocks/radiofrequency for associated facet pain 6. Tens unit 7. Non-narcotic meds 8. Surgery.

I would encourage : You to discuss acupuncture with your physician as an adjunct to your treatment plan. Do note that you can't have opiods on board for four hours or after the acupuncture for successful treatment.

Spine specialist: Chronic opioid use is probably the last option someone should try. There is very little functional gain from using narcotic medications chronically. Consider: 1) physical therapy 2) chiropractic care: adjustments or flexion-distraction 3) oral anti-inflammatories 4) epidural steroid injections 5) discectomy 6) meds for neuropathic pain best advice is to seek out a spine specialist in your area.
