See a dentist: Along with antibiotics you need to see a dentist as antibiotics may not be effective alone.You can take a course of antibiotics and if you still feel it is not cleared, than see dentist.I would advice against smokin, or cut down to minimum if possible.

Tooth Abcess: Tooth abscess is a serious dental emergency. If you have no access to treatment by a dentist, it can get very serious for you. The right antibiotics can help a lot but are not a permanent solution. If your abscess is draining through your gum you may be in luck. Pressure by a growing abscess causes pain. If your face swells find a dentist locally or get back home to see your dentist asap!

No: It is not ok to wait. Visit your dentist asap. If you are overseas antibiotics may help but if emergency happens you will have to visit a dentist overseas.
