Acute inflammations: Seemingly you did too much all at once and your shoulder/arm have not been conditioned for such activities. The heavy wt and repetitive movements in the shoulder area caused irritation to the axillary nerve (causing numbness in armpit) and to area under shoulder point (sub-acromial bursae) causing pain with raising arm. Rest and us of motrin/aleve may help. If worsens, consult doc. Good luck.
