Ear and sinus infect: Z pak is a good choice to treat both --- sinuses and ear. However, sometimes we deal with resistant bacteria, in that case, you need some different antibiotic. May be augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate). Go see your doc again.

Virus? : You may have a virus causing your symptoms, in which case, antibiotics would not help. Best to check with your doctor again. Sometimes the left over scarring from an infection can cause continued symptoms. Either way, see your doc again.
