IBS diarrhea: Diarrhea in ibs can be treated with imodium, Lomotil and lotronex (alosetron). Lotronex (alosetron) has restricted use as it can cause ischemic colitis usually occurs in elderly people with heart condition. It is good medication when properly prescribed. One must make sure that there is no coexisting lactose intolerance celiac disease or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth or microscopic colitis.

Generally: I recommend dietary and fluid management and have the best success with this meds available have limited success and usually only mask some of the symptoms. Maintain regular eating times during the day, consistent frequency of meals day to day, similar foods and quantities and plenty of fluids.
