Treatment for charcot foot?

Primarily : Staying off the foot, non weight bearing is the key. Unfortunately, there is not much else. There is some debate whether the bisphosphanates medications are of any value, but there is no concrete evidence that they work. Off loading by non weight bearing is the key. It is a horrific disease process.

Depends: On what stage of charcot. Acute stage when foot is inflammed, hot and swollen requires strict immobilization and non-weightbearing. Chronic charcot can be treated with braces or orthotics, or specialized shoe gear. Surgical reconstruction is performed in many cases, depending on the situation and condition of patient.

Many: There are many treatments for a Charcot foot. These include non-weight bearing with casting, accommodative bracing such as an Arizona brace, Richie brace or a crow Walker. Charcot reconstruction can be performed in severe cases as well as simpler "lump and bump" surgery.
