No recovery: Generally, charcot marie tooth disease is progressive; that is, symptoms become worse over time. Braces and physical therapy can help, but there is no known cure.

Common in CMT: Drop foot is common sequela of cmt. If severe it should be braced or splinted to prevent foot irritation or ulceration. See foot doctor or neurologist.

Permanent: Usually when foot drop develops, it is permanent. Using foot orthodics can help.

Forever : Unfortunately, once you experience drop foot with Charcot Marie tooth it will last indefinitely. You should continue strengthening exercises. MAFO braces can help. Sometimes arthrodesis of the ankle joint is indicated.
