The most important aspects of post surgery rehabilitation are regaining range of motion, controlling swelling, and mobilizing scar tissue. It is very important to seek help from a licensed physical therapist to help with the recovery process as they are experts in this process.

Recovery: Length of recovery has many vanles not in your or you doctors control and depends on your definition of recovered. Best to hope for a complication free procedure. The rate of healing is individual and not in anybodys control avoiding complications.

You can't: This surgery requires time for the soft tissues and bones to heal. This process continues for 3-6 months. You can improve your functional recovery by preparing for surgery with muscle strengthening exercises, then continuing the prescribed rehabilitation program after surgery. Patients who "push" themselves can get a rapid return of function.
