No easy answer: I would discuss with your referring doctor. Some reference laboratories are much better than others. You can always have it sent to a third laboratory with excellence in the area.

Thyroid: A preliminary report is just that......Preliminary, and may be issued after evaluation of only a portion of the tissue. A final report, though, should be issued after a complete analysis of the tissue. Having said that, if there is still a question, there are national experts, who can weigh in on your case and there are genetic studies that may also help.

Ask your doctor: From your question, it sounds like you received a "final"diagnosis of benign after a "preliminary" of FV of papillary carcinoma. But it is unclear from your question. Your best resort is to speak with who took the biopsy and ask what the "FINAL" diagnosis is. The pathologists handling your case should have come to a consensus about this before any action is taken and made who did the biopsy aware.
