I have an oedema in the disc space seen on mri 2 weeks after a discectomy , what could this mean?

Post surgical change: This could be just normal post surgical changes or it could be a sign of an early post op infection. The real question for me is why are you getting a MRI so soon after surgery. This test in the early post op period is not as reliable as when done after 3 months post op when all the changes occuring with the healing process have essentially ceased which can otherwise confuse the interpretation
