Respiratory illness : The most studied & reported complication of parental (husband) smoking is the increase in respiratory illness by 2-3x in the infant, including bronchitis, ear infections & pneumonia. There is also a some increase in the crib death rate. For smoking mothers add growth retardation during pregnancy & later if breast fed.

Yes & here's how:: You & your fetus will both be passive smokers, which can cause a decrease in gray matter& atypical development of white matter in the fetal brain. Consequences can be adhd, decreased iq, learning & behavior problems. Baby will passively smoke whatever he smokes, as it clings to his clothes even if he goes outside to smoke. www.aap.org. Has a parent section on passive smoking in fetus & baby.
