Is it safe for babies to inhale the smell and smoke of burning incense?

No: Any fragrant irritant from incense, to scented candles, to scent producing plug ins can trigger a cough and in some cases asthma.

Avoid: Minimal exposure to smoke from any source is advisable. An infant's lungs are still growing and it is best to avoid any potential irritants.

WORRISOME: Data show that any exposure produces debris that layers out in the nasal passages and lungs and can persist for weeks. Increased respiratory infections and risk of crib death are well documented.
