How to know if some babies are actually allergic to cigarette smoke?

Not: Cigarette smoke is an irritant, patients are not allergic to cigarette smoke. Having said that, smoke can clearly exacerbate wheezing syndromes in child as well as place them a risk for other diseases from second hand smoke.

Why: Second hand smoke provides dozens of toxic chemicals to the air inhaled by babies. They suffer 2-3x the number of respiratory and ear infections.Their crib death risk is elevated. Why you would need to validate an allergic response on top of the toxic effect is unclear. It's just bad around babies and the research has documented this well for decades.

All do: Never smoke around children. Their lungs are developing and sensitive to the toxins and carbon monoxide in cigarettes. Second hand smoke is terrible for anyone, especially children. Actually, smoking is terrible for the human body. It causes many problems.
