I know i have an infection from the retreatment of the root canal but what caused it 3 days after the procedure?

Residual bacterial: During the process bacteria are inadvertantly shoved out the end of the tooth into the bone which normally your body can take care of and it is not a problem but in some cases your body is not able to destroy them soon enough to avoid the bacterial infection that spreads which takes a few days to manifest as in your case. See your dentist for post op care.

Infection : The infection that lead to needing to retreat the root canal may still be outside the root. Call the dentist and indicate what you are feeling you may need to be on an antibiotic.
