Mechanical vs biolog: Breathing is basically the actual air movement in and out of lungs. Respiration is a biological process of transferring and using the oxygen/carbon dioxide for cellular functions/chemical processes, applying to both animals and plants. It is a rather complicated but fascinating process of life. Biology=study of life. Have fun learning. Good luck.
