Is there a difference in the breathing sounds of someone with croup compared to pertussis?

Breathing sounds: With severe croup, you may hear stridor, which is an inspiratory sucking or squeaking sound. This is a sign of severe tracheal narrowing and warrants immediate medical attention. With pertussis, there are many coughs in a row (>5) which makes it hard to breath in between. Sometimes there's a whooping sound after the cough attack. For both conditions, the child should be evaluated.
