Not so helpful: While small LDL particle size is related to cardiovascular disease (cvd) risk, many studies show that this is due to the number of LDL particles (ldl-p) present. Recent recommendations by the national lipid association find no patient group in whom LDL size testing is recommended. However, tests for LDL particle number are recommended in several settings.
