Train well for sport: There is no way to answer this accurately without examining you but the most likely cause of knee pain in a young person with running is some form of tendinopathy (strain of a tendon). The muscles of the thighs (quadriceps) or hips (gluteii and tensor fascia lata) are not strong enough for the stress you place on them. There could be other causes so you should see a physiatrist or orthopedist.
