Why did my doc give me metformin if im hypoglycemic, will that make hypoglycemia worse? i am affraid to take it.

It's ok: Metformin does by itself not cause hypoglycemia when given alone to patients with diabetes. Hypoglycemia can occur from . Other drugs as the sulfonylureas. Talk to your doctor.

Ask your doc: Best way to get this answer is to ask the doctor who prescribed this medication to you. In general, metformin is safe and does not cause hypoglycemia so even if you take it, you won't go hypo (anymore than what you've been doing) but i don't know why metformin was prescribed if you have hypoglycemia. Need more information from you.
