Behavioral Insomnia: When you attend to a one year old every time he or she cries at night, you may be accidently reinforcing the behavior you are trying to avoid. It is also a good thing to teach children to 'sooth' themselves. A reoccurance of previous behaviors is usually a response to something, like teething in the case of a one year old. Discuss with the pediatrician and happy parenting.

Infant's language: Crying s a baby's language. It is how he tells a caregiver he has a need. He gives up crying when he has words to replace the crying. Crying is also natures way of bringing the parent closer to the child and reinforcing the parent-child bond. It is through soothing an infant that the infant learns to sooth himself. It is through neglect of a child's needs that crying can become problematic.
