Hold the Karo Syrup: The american acad of peds doesn't recommend giving infants, especially preemies corn (karo) syrup. It was a common home remedy, but today's commercially prepared dark corn syrup may not contain the type of chemicals (sugars) that draw fluid into the gut thus softening stool making dark corn syrup ineffective for infant constipation. Ask your pediatrician about giving small amt of h20 or juice.
