Taper is best : Bupropion is the antidepressant used to aid in smoke cessation. If you've accomplished your goal (hooray!) and you are otherwise healthy, then you can try just stopping it. But bupropion can have discontinuation side effects that are like having the flu. It's best just to cut down on the dose slowly over a week to avoid the nuisance of discontinuation symptoms. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti.

DEPENDS: It really depends on the dose and the length of time that you have been on the medication. If the dose is relative high and you have taken the medication for more than one month, it is always best to discontinue the medication slowly over a few weeks. The other question is did you quit smoking and for how long. You may want to stick with the treatment a while to make sure you do not smoke again!
